The Johnsons
It was August, 1968 after receiving Bachelors Degrees from Jackson State University, Jackson, MS (Donald) and Rust College, Holly Springs, MS., we began our jobs as first year Classroom Instructors within the hallowed walls of Webster County Training School, Eupora, MS. In the same year at Christmas, Donald’s tenure as a formal educator ended with a “Letter from Uncle Sam.” We began our lives, together, on January 1, 1969. Donald served five years in the US Navy and four years in the US Army. He was accepted to the University of Iowa, School of Medicine, graduating with a Degree in Medicine – May 1977. Doris graduated in May 1977, with a Masters of Social Work Degree from the University of Iowa’s School of Social Work. We provide financial support to our Colleges and Professional Schools, as well as, providing Scholarships to numerous High School Graduates.
Legacy of Educators
Our educational backgrounds are filled with family members (mother, aunt, sister, brother-in-law, cousins) who embraced education and have made tremendous contributions. An accumulative total of over two century’s of service in education is attributed to these relatives who have worked and continue to work in the area of education. We, too, have made EDUCATION a priority and feel it is a very meaningful and important tool in attaining self sufficiency.
The Donald R. and Doris A. Johnson Foundation
is designed to provide financial support to students in pursuit of post secondary degrees and other community needs.
